One of the first actions of BlueBioChain NextGen educational program took place between 23-25 and 27 October 2023!
With the goal of nurturing the next generation of scientists, the program hosted an instructive and interactive workshop where twenty young researchers, separated in three groups, had the opportunity to practice and gain hands-on experience on the topics of extraction bioactive compounds from microalgae. Subsequently the participants were trained in the identification of the extracted compounds with sophisticated techniques such as Ultra High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC).
The event took place in the Waste Management and Bioprocessing Lab (WMB) while the UHPLC training was kindly hosted by the Laboratory of horticultural plant physiology and nutrition (JOINT HORT LAB), both part of ELGO-DIMITRA.
The participants evaluated the activity very highly and expressed an interest in participating in similar future activities. This positive response underscores the success of the event and signals a promising start for the BlueBioChain NextGen educational program. Plans for future activities are already in the pipeline, promising continued engagement and growth for the aspiring researchers involved.
