The project ‘“Novel biorefinery supply chains for wastewater valorization and production of high market value bio products using microalgae – BlueBioChain”, funded by BlueBio ERA-NET Cofund, has reached its first year of operations!
To mark the event, an annual meeting between the consortium members was hosted by the Hellenic Agricultural Organization-Dimitra (ELGO) in its installations near Thermi, Greece on the 6th and 7th of October 2022.
The event was divided into two sessions with the 1st session devoted to the project’s progress. The main accomplishments achieved so far were evaluated, and future actions were mapped out.
The second session of the meeting involved clustering with other research projects of similar themes of blue bioeconomy and biotechnology as BlueBioChain. Six different projects (two of which were funded by BlueBio Cofund) were introduced to the consortium members either through presentations or visits to actual demo sites. A greater perspective for BlueBioChain was thus achieved along with opportunities for networking for all participants.
The scientific activities were supplemented with social events as well. A dinner along with a farewell lunch was held facilitating a greater familiarization between the meeting’s participants as well as with the culture of Thessaloniki city.
